3 Teams That Should Trade For DK Metcalf

Seattle Seahawks superstar wide receiver DK Metcalf has requested a trade, according to multiple reports. The Seahawks intend to explore the possibility. Metcalf should garner serious interest on the trade block.

Metcalf is currently scheduled to enter the final year of a previously signed contract extension. He's scheduled to earn an underpaid base salary of $18 million. Any trade for Metcalf surely needs to come with an extension that increases his average annual salary.

Metcalf battled through a minor injury in 2024 that slightly limited his production. The former Ole Miss standout recorded 66 receptions for 992 receiving yards and five touchdowns. In a weak crop of free-agent receivers, and a modest class in the 2025 NFL Draft, Metcalf should attract significant interest. We've identified three potential landing spots.

Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers were loosely tied to Metcalf rumors before we received national confirmation that he may indeed be available for trade. The Packers' need for a legitimate No. 1 receiver has been well-documented this offseason. Running back Josh Jacobs even made some public comments about the position during Super Bowl media week.

The Packers have several complementary receivers. Both Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs were hampered by injury in 2024, and neither player is a true go-to target. Metcalf's deep speed would undoubtedly complement what Jayden Reed does underneath. Head coach Matt LaFleur believes starting quarterback Jordan Love is capable of elevating his game to an even higher level if he had a receiver of Metcalf's abilities at his disposal.

Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders need a No. 1 receiver after wisely trading Davante Adams last season. Tight end Brock Bowers is currently the lone pass-catching threat on the roster. The Raiders aren't currently sure who will be playing quarterback next season, but whoever is, they'll need more proven playmakers at their disposal.

Pete Carroll is Las Vegas' new head coach. The 73-year-old Super Bowl-winning coach spent five seasons (2019-23) coaching Metcalf in Seattle, playing a huge role in drafting him in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Carroll isn't interested in rebuilding the roster slowly. He plans to compete right away. Acquiring the two-time Pro Bowl wideout would accelerate Vegas' timeline.

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots have a franchise quarterback on their roster in Drake Maye. Head coach Mike Vrabel plans to build around Maye. A true No. 1 receiver has eluded the Patriots in recent years. With a young, stellar quarterback in the fold and a league-leading $127.4 million in cap space, Vrabel will be aggressive in pursuit of big-time upgrades to improve the season-long outlook.

Vrabel was once on the opposing end of one of these blockbuster trades, watching AJ Brown get dealt over a contract dispute. It was a move that crippled Vrabel's offense in Tennessee. The Patriots will be very anxious to surround Maye with a go-to playmaker on the boundary for him to target with a sense of confidence in contested situations. The Patriots should be willing to acquire Metcalf and sign him to an extension that surpasses $30 million per season.
