*Son of former UCLA and Steeler great Carnell Lake
Scheme tendencies: 4-3 defense with some 3-3-5 hybrid
2021 projected role: Starting Safety
Pros: Quintin aligns at Safety for the Bruin defense. He has also aligned as the nickel In man coverage vs. 10 and 11 personnel Groups. He is a good athlete with good agility, balance and body control. In the run game he's effective due to efficiency. His instincts always have him near the football in the run game. He's not a killer and is more of a drag down tackler. However he is efficient and rarely misses tackles, particularly on the perimeter. In the passing game his value is as a versatile asset. He has versatility in his ability to align on the back end, in the low hole or in the nickel slot. He has excellent instincts and seems to always be in the right position, both in his run fits and when the ball is in the air.
Cons: When you look at his attributes and the player overall, you wonder why he hasn’t made more plays. He's not an overly aggressive tackler but is efficient and will get the ball carrier on the ground. Missed most of 2019 with injuries. Overall this players ceiling is much higher than his production has been up to this point.
