Justin aligns at QB for the Duck spread offensive attack. He brings good athleticism to the position, evidenced in his ability to escape danger and deliver the football with accuracy on the move. He demonstrates very good poise while under duress. He has very good pocket presence and uses his internal clock when the pocket has collapsed on him. He generally shows good footwork in his drop and his good base help him deliver the football with velocity and accuracy. However, some of his short to intermediate throw have moments of only sufficient ball placement. Mostly likely due to his footwork and/or mechanics. He is always a threat to the defense as a runner. He has good mobility in and out of the pocket and will extend plays with his legs when plays break down. He shows excellent accuracy on 9 routes and other deep balls and also does a good job of throwing the ball with touch when necessary. He has been an excellent decision maker thus far and never appears rattled under pressure. Demonstrated good competitiveness to convert critical 3rd downs by any means necessary. He has a tendency to lock on to his primary read at times and wont get through a full progression. There are other moments where if his primary is covered, he may get to his secondary read but usually will tuck it and run. He has worked exclusively from the gun and will need to improve at the nuances of the position from under center. Like handling the protections at the LOS. His very good instincts and mental aptitude will allow him to easily learn other nuances of the position such as learning to manipulate the safety with his eyes. He will also need to learn to protect himself better in the NFL, particularly when using his escapability outside of the pocket. In the NFL he is a starting QB for most teams and has the skill set, mental aptitude and adaptability to play in different offensive schemes.
