Jermod McCoy Scouting Report

Jermod McCoy is a scheme and alignment-versatile corner who has proven natural instincts to get his hands on the football and make game-changing plays.

Draft Grade: Round 2 - Winning Starter

Strengths:

Scheme Versatility: McCoy’s athleticism and instincts allow him to play in both man-to-man and zone schemes. McCoy can play press-man one rep and then play off-coverage the next. NFL defenses that like to mix coverages and present different looks to the quarterback will find immense value in McCoy's versatility.

Ball Skills: Over the span of two years (2023–2024), McCoy has logged six interceptions (four in 2024). McCoy does a great job of playing his man and then locating the football. He has great eyes to track the football, along with excellent body control and hands. McCoy is a risk-taker and will attempt to jump routes to intercept the football or break up the pass.

Run Defense: McCoy is a sound run defender on the perimeter of the defense. Whether it's stepping up on an outside run to help set the edge or fighting through screens, McCoy showcases himself to be a scrappy player who will step up and put his body in the way to make the tackle.

Concerns:

Man-to-Man Coverage: McCoy is a versatile defender who is capable of playing multiple coverages, but the one area that could use the most improvement is the technical detail of his man-to-man coverage.

Injury: McCoy suffered a torn ACL in the 2024 season and did not play at all in the 2025 season. He will enter the draft with limited data points for his evaluation.
