Prospect Summary
Jordan Wright 2023 NFL Draft Scouting Report
Background:Â
- Compiled 25 sacks as a senior
- A three-star football recruit
- Dual-sport standout in football and basketball
System:Â
- Scheme tendencies: 3-3-5
- 2022 projected role: Outside linebacker
Pros: Jordan Wright wears multiple hats for the Wildcats defense. He is a tall and versatile defender with long levers. His arm length shows up by stacking tight ends and setting hard edges in the run game. He uses that arm length to keep separation on his pass rush sets before using a counter to detach from blocks. Wright plays with solid instincts against the run and in coverage. He offers the ability to drop off the line as a QB spy to contain dual-threat quarterbacks. His closing burst allows him to track down QBs and ball carriers from the backside.Â
Cons: Despite the physical tools, Jordan Wright does not display a well-versed pass rush package. He does not fit the weight requirements of a full-time edge in the league. Questions regarding his role at the next level are valid. Is he a sub-package rusher, an off-ball linebacker, or both? Also, Wright is an older prospect—he will be 24 this December. This could drop him from teams’ draft boards that value youth.
