Darius Robinson 2023 NFL Draft Scouting Report

  • Played basketball in high school and only started playing football as a junior
  • Played defensive tackle, linebacker, and tight end in high school

  • Scheme tendencies: Odd front but multiple
  • 2022 projected role: Starting defensive lineman

Pros: Darius Robinson offers some highly appealing physical gifts. Featuring incredible length, Robinson is an explosive athlete with a frame capable of filling out even more than it has. Considering his late start to playing football and modest role early in his college career, there is reason to believe he has plenty of room for development. I like his quickness off the ball, urgency, and busy hands. There is a strong foundation of traits present for him to evolve as a pass rusher in a defensive scheme that will allow him to play fast and penetrate. Robinson shows the ability to convert speed to power and anchor against single blocks. Robinson has appeal in multiple alignments at the next level providing positional and schematic versatility.

Cons: For all the physical upside present with Darius Robinson, ideally he would make more plays and deliver a greater impact. His block recognition skills are modest and he doesn’t play with consistent enough leverage. His hands are more active than they are effective and I want to see him become more technical and deliberate in how he deploys his hands and evolves his ability to beat blocks. Robinson has room to add functional strength and fill out his frame to increase his power and mass at the point of attack.
