Camerun Peoples 2023 NFL Draft Scouting Report
- Second-Team All-Sun-Belt (2021)
- Suffered a season-ending knee injury in 2019
- Scheme tendencies: Power run scheme
- 2022 projected role: Power back who projects as a situational runner in a committee
Pros: Camerun Peoples is a physical running back who has been very productive for the Mountaineers even though he has to split carries in a committee. He displays very good vision and patience when pressing the hole and allows his blockers to get to their spots before accelerating through. He is a violent runner who embraces contact. He runs with high knees and easily breaks arm tackles. Peoples has deceptive speed in the open field and can defeat angles once he has a full head of steam.
Cons: Camerun Peoples is a productive back in college but he lacks the agility, elusiveness, and third-down skills to ever be more than a short-yardage specialist at the next level. He is a stiff-hipped athlete who struggles when forced to make defenders miss. He is an upright runner who doesn’t run with a good pad level and makes himself an easy target. While I do appreciate his power and toughness, I don’t see a large role for him in the NFL.
