Arquon Bush 2023 NFL Draft Scouting Report
- Played receiver and defensive back in high school
- Chose Cincinnati over Kentucky, Michigan State, Purdue, and Rutgers
- Scheme tendencies: Blended coverages, odd front
- 2022 projected role: Starting outside corner
Pros: After three seasons of significant experience in the slot for an outstanding Bearcats defense, Arquon Bush is going to have the opportunity in 2022 to prove what he can do as an outside corner. Bush is a quick and physical player that is more than willing to trigger downhill and tackle. I like his click-and-close ability and willingness to contribute in run support. Bush is a sound mirror and match player in man coverage that has the quicks and fluidity to hold his own. Bush is highly disruptive at the catch point and his ball skills are a strength of his game. Bush has made an impact blocking kicks and has the ideal demeanor to be a meaningful special teams contributor in the NFL.
Cons: From early exposures in 2022, Arquon Bush is still developing his comfort for zone coverage and understanding the leverage of the defense which shouldn’t be unexpected given his primary usage in the slot prior to the season. While I love how aggressive he can be in run support and driving downhill, he has to become a more consistent tackler and finisher as there are currently too many misses. Athletically, Bush is sufficient but he isn’t top tier in terms of change of direction, speed, and quickness. How he evolves in 2022 as an outside corner is big for his draft stock.
