PROS: Rutgers' Tariq Cole is a road grader in the run game. Cole is going to project most favorably to a gap/power blocking role up front. Possesses a prototypical frame for the edge at 6’6, 320 lbs and has shown skill in using length to extend arms and run rushers past the pocket despite failing to keep feet framed on defenders. Natural strength and lower body thickness allows for a late anchor and ability to recover if pushed back onto his heels by a heavy hitting rusher.
CONS: Appears to have some lower body limitations with tightness through the hips and pelvis. Struggles to gain notable depth in pass set, will typically have to hinge prematurely on his 3rd or 4th kick and chase rushers to protect the edge. Foot quickness is an inhibitor on outside rushes and mirroring defenders in space, will have a hard time keeping pace as an isolated blocker against smaller defenders. Won’t project favorably to all offensive systems, given size and quickness, which will impact his draft valuation status throughout the process.
