Pros: Comes out of his stances with consistent leverage, playing underneath the offensive lineman’s pads. Strong base with arch in his back that speaks to his core and lower-body strength. With his hands inside, he’s able to hold and maintain his ground, allowing for minimal push past the point of attack. When he puts together his leverage with moves to disengage, he becomes a dominant run defender. Can generate pressure from the interior but has shown the potential to wrap around on stunts with his athleticism. Constantly beats reach blocks immediately because of his leverage and explosiveness from his stance. Entering his third season as the starter.
Cons: Can stop his pass rush and is too often unsure and without a plan. Lacks pass rush counters when his rush stalls out. While there are cases of disruption, he’s yet to get home with a sack in college. Will be taken off the field as apart of a rotation. Has the habit of blending into games, though he made his presence felt with more consistency last season. While he projects to play minimal snaps on passing downs, he may be undersized to survive at the nose in the NFL.
