PROS: Excellent size, build and length for the position. Strong natural hands to pluck the ball outside his frame. Radius is impressive, will attack the ball in the air and has shown the ability to make tough adjustments even in contested spots. Reliable pass-catcher who won't drop many.
Fast enough to get down the seam and stretch the field. False step in his release, but once he gets going has good build-up speed to open up deep zone defenders and break off patterns in front of them. Understands where to sit and show his numbers against zone.
Puts his shoulder down and shows good balance after the catch to absorb contact and pick up a few extra yards. Fights for the marker. Shows good energy as a receiver to battle opponents for the rock. Has the frame and tools necessary to become and effective in-line or move blocker.
CONS: Overall athleticism is solid, not great. Not an explosive pass catcher, won't drop his hips and accelerates out of cuts. Routes are somewhat rounded off and creating separation from man coverage is a chore. More of a linear athlete than a multi-directional one. Not elusive in the open field.
Has more issues than you'd expect working off contact cleanly in his patterns. Gets re-routed a little too easily by chips at the line of scrimmage or jams just off the ball. Would like to see better hand work to defeat contact and create more separation at the top of his routes. Lacks the nuance and attention to detail as a route runner to manipulate defenders out of position. Too comfortable with an opponent in his hip pocket.
Disappointing blocker. Doesn't sustain contact and shows poor attention to detail and technique as a blocker. Needs to get hands inside and run his feet more consistently. Doesn't create movement at point of attack or show desired tenacity and aggression. Is he nasty enough to play in the trenches?
