Pros: Colby has shown good football IQ and has aligned in various roles in the Cardinal offense. He demonstrates good length when aligning inline as a blocker. He is willing and shows the necessary temperament as an inline blocker and stalk blocker. He is fluid for a bigger TE and shows sufficient route running ability when flexed out. Can drop his weight and create separation against some safeties and linebackers in man coverage. Demonstrates good strong hands to catch the football. He does a good job of extending and not allowing the ball into his frame. He has the positional flexibility to play Y, F, or H and matches up favorably the red area and goal line.
Cons: Due to his size, getting vertical push in the run game will be an issue if he is inline. However, he does a good job positioning his body and holding the point. When flexed out he needs to improve at using his hands and pairing it with his footwork to defeat press. Also when flexed out, it takes him a little longer to get into his route. As a result, if he's the primary read, the QB has to come off him sometime due to slow development within the play. Needs to do a better job setting defenders up, and developing crafty nuances to create more separation at the top of the route.
