PROS: First step is good. Erupts off the snap with energy and physicality. Finds the edge of his opponent and can be disruptive slanting gaps. Active hands. Hand placement and pad level are a strength in the run game. Holds the point of attack well vs base blocks.
CONS: Not an overly explosive or bendy edge rusher. Pass rush athleticism is pretty average, making cornering a difficulty. Doesn’t have a ready-made plan as a pass rusher and will get caught up in 1v1 fights rather than winning cleanly. Can get knocked off balance and driven out of gaps by angle blocks due to high pad level. Doesn’t string moves together well and is a slow-burn winning pass rusher at best. Exposes a lot of surface area in his rushes, absorbing maximum contact on his way to the pocket. Must keep himself as clean with hand usage as a pass rusher as he does in the run game.
