PROS: Big frame, passes the eye test as a prototypical passer on first glance. Operates offense from under center and has shown ability to keep offense on schedule. Effective in play action passing to show the ball and convince defenders the ball is being exchanges. Hornibrook does well to disperse the football around the field, liking to target his TE and RBs out of the backfield. Shows good patience in the screen game to let defenders suck into the pocket.
CONS: Looks skittish if forces to stand tall and survey the pocket. Throwing platform breaks down and as a result his feet will drift and accuracy wanes as a result. Can be pressured into poor decisions with the football and has thrown hastily into coverage on far too many occasions and put ball security at risk. Had an 8-game stretch with at least one interception in 2017 and threw 15 total interceptions on just 318 attempts last season. Is not a threat to run the football if pressured quickly, lacks the mobility and vision to find gaps in the pocket to flush out of a gap into freedom. Does not look to consistently get on top of the football, will squat back and not transfer weight into throws, missing high as a result.
