PROS: Does an outstanding job on down blocks. Thick, strong lower base that allows him to keep his hips in-between the defender and the hole. Dominates slower moving interior defensive lineman with his lateral movement skills. Good job driving feet. Plays with proper leverage in the run and pass game. Quick processor, can easily pass off defenders coming on stunts. Steady as a run blocker. Fights to reach and plays with a high motor.
CONS: Against defensive lineman with a quicker get-off, Holtorf can give up immediate interior pressure and is slow to anchor. Can collapse the pocket because of this. Is better in attack mode than in any sort of retreat or pass set. Though he’s able to beat slower defensive lineman on an extremely consistent basis, Holtorf doesn’t possess elite power or size, and may have a limited ceiling.
