Who Will Have NFL’s Best Record In 2023?

The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles tied for the NFL’s best regular-season record in 2022 with 14 wins apiece. The Chiefs and Eagles later met in Super Bowl LVII. There was a direct correlation between the top-ranking season performances and which organizations advanced to compete for a Lombardi Trophy.

With 2023 training camp officially underway, it’s time to look toward some never-too-early record projections. Several NFL franchises have made strides throughout the offseason by improving their personnel. They’ll hope to contend with the Chiefs and Eagles for home-field advantage in 2023.

BetOnline’s NFL futures prop betting landscape for the 2023 best regular-season record has taken shape. The league is loaded with would-be contenders. The top 10 betting options shake out as follows:

  • Kansas City Chiefs (+500)
  • Philadelphia Eagles (+750)
  • Cincinnati Bengals (+800)
  • Buffalo Bills (+850)
  • San Francisco 49ers (+900)
  • Baltimore Ravens (+1200)
  • Dallas Cowboys (+1400)
  • Jacksonville Jaguars (+1800)
  • Miami Dolphins (+2200)
  • Cleveland Browns (+2500)

THE FAVORITE AND MY PICK: KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

Since superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes became the starter in 2018, the Chiefs have won a league-high 63 regular-season games (and two Super Bowls to boot). That’s an annual average of 12.6 victories per season. The Chiefs have been the ultimate model of consistency. There’s no legitimate reason to believe that will change in 2023.

The Chiefs should flirt with 13-plus victories for a sixth consecutive campaign. The gap in the AFC West is getting larger, not smaller. The Las Vegas Raiders are headed in a concerning direction. Can new Broncos head coach Sean Payton rehabilitate Russell Wilson? The Los Angeles Chargers have a lot to prove after giving Justin Herbert a contract extension. The Chiefs will continue to dominate this division, and in turn, the entire AFC.

THE NO. 1 CONTENDER: PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts established himself as a face-of-the-franchise talent throughout a historic 2022 NFL campaign. Hurts led the Eagles to a franchise-record 14 victories, which is quite the triumph given their impressive organizational history. Hurts was rewarded with a five-year extension worth $255 million earlier this offseason.

The Eagles are now tasked with becoming an annual powerhouse. I believe they have the pieces in place to achieve the desired consistency. Head coach Nick Sirianni has developed a winning identity that fits Hurts’ skill set. Will the Eagles’ 2023 efforts be impacted by the departures of starters like Isaac Seumalo, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and other notable outgoings?

Offensive coordinator Shane Steichen and defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon also exited, forcing Sirianni to introduce new coaches onto his staff. Challenges are present, but the Eagles appropriately refilled the cupboard this summer and should win 11-plus games again.

A WORTHY UNDERDOG: SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

The San Francisco 49ers went 10-1 after trading for superstar running back Christian McCaffrey. They finished the regular season as the hottest team in NFL by rounding off 10 consecutive victories. 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy won all five of his regular-season starts after taking over as the starter. They claimed the No. 2 seed in the conference. Purdy suffered an injury in San Francisco’s NFC Championship Game defeat to the Eagles, but recently received full medical clearance, according to reports.

Despite that success, the 49ers rank No. 5 in BetOnline’s odds and are currently available at +900. That’s borderline disrespectful. Purdy and McCaffrey will spearhead a successful 49ers team once again this season. They’re a worthy underdog to own the best record in 2023.
