Can you feel it? The rumbling beneath your feet? It’s that time of year again—it’s NFL SEASON!

The 2022 NFL regular season kicks off on Thursday night when the Buffalo Bills, the current Super Bowl favorite, travel to Los Angeles to face the reigning, defending champion Rams at SoFi Stadium. With a brand new season set to start, what better way to celebrate than by making some award predictions?

Eight members of The Draft Network staff submitted a poll ranking their top five players (in order) to win the NFL MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, Offensive Rookie of the Year, and Defensive Rookie of the Year awards. The votes were tallied up and the results are TDN’s official predictions for the upcoming season. Let’s dive in.

NFL MVP: Josh Allen QB, Buffalo Bills

1st Place 2nd Place 3rd Place 4th Place 5th Place Total
Josh Allen 6 1 1 37
Justin Herbert 5 1 22
Patrick Mahomes 2 1 1 2 19
Aaron Rodgers 2 1 1 9
Tom Brady 2 1 8
Joe Burrow 1 2 7
Russell Wilson 1 2 4
Derek Carr 1 4
Matthew Stafford 1 3
Justin Jefferson 2 2
Lamar Jackson 1 2
TJ Watt 1 2
Jonathan Taylor 1 1

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is the favorite to take home the NFL MVP at sportsbooks and in our TDN poll. It’s not hard to see why there is so much hype around the young passer this season. Allen has taken tremendous steps forward as a thrower and he’s one of the best, most exciting players in the league on a team with Super Bowl aspirations. That’s a surefire formula to generate MVP buzz and Allen is surrounded by it at the moment.

DPOY: Aaron Donald DT, Los Angeles Rams

1st Place 2nd Place 3rd Place 4th Place 5th Place Total
Aaron Donald 2 5 30
Micah Parsons 1 5 2 24
T.J. Watt 2 2 1 2 22
Myles Garrett 1 2 2 1 16
Nick Bosa 1 1 1 8
Joey Bosa 1 1 8
Maxx Crosby 2 1 5
Chase Young 1 4
Jaire Alexander 1 1
Shaquille Leonard 1 1
Aidan Hutchinson 1 1

Ol’ reliable Aaron Donald leads the pack here to win NFL DPOY. This is probably a safe pick—which is why he received so many first and second-place votes—but that doesn’t mean it’s wrong. Donald is one of the best defensive players of all time and is showing no signs of slowing down after securing his first Super Bowl title.

OROY: Dameon Pierce RB, Houston Texans

1st Place 2nd Place 3rd Place 4th Place 5th Place Total
Dameon Pierce 3 1 1 1 1 25
Chris Olave 1 3 2 23
Drake London 2 1 2 18
George Pickens 1 2 2 1 16
Breece Hall 1 2 1 11
Kenny Pickett 1 1 1 8
Romeo Doubs 1 1 1 6
Garrett Wilson 1 2 4
Treylon Burks 2 4
Ken Walker III 1 4
Malik Willis 1 1

Let’s hope the OROY race in the NFL is as tightly-contested as this one. It’s rare you see a fourth-rounder topping the predictive charts here, but Dameon Pierce is a special player who has a clear path to a ton of work in the Houston Texans’ backfield. Couple that with no rookie quarterbacks starting Week 1 and it’s a great year for a running back or a wide receiver to take home the award.

DROY: Aidan Hutchinson EDGE, Detroit Lions

1st Place 2nd Place 3rd Place 4th Place 5th Place Total
Aidan Hutchinson 8 40
Travon Walker 2 2 1 13
Kayvon Thibodeaux 1 2 2 12
George Karlaftis 2 1 1 11
Devin Lloyd 1 2 10
Quay Walker 2 1 8
Nakobe Dean 1 2 6
Derek Stingley Jr. 1 1 6
Sauce Gardner 1 1 5
Boye Mafe 1 3
Jordan Davis 1 2
Nick Cross 1 2
Lewis Cine 1 1
Kaiir Elam 1 1

No. 2 overall pick Aidan Hutchinson was the only unanimous winner among all the awards voted on. Hutchinson is a physical freak who should be able to wreak havoc on opposing offenses as a member of the Detroit Lions. We can’t wait to see what he does as a rookie.
