Two-Minute Trait: Collin Johnson's Top Of Route

In the below video, NFL Draft analyst Brad Kelly takes a look at two route running examples from Texas Longhorns rising senior wide receiver Collin Johnson.

On the first example, Johnson is able to get the cornerback to speed turn before adjusting to a “back shoulder” throw for a substantial gain. While this was a great example of Johnson’s success on the vertical plane, the second clip is an example of where Johnson can improve his route running technique.

At the top of the route on the “Burst” Corner route, Johnson fails to make a fake to the inside, which limits his separation from the safety on his break to the corner. Check out which wide receiver that Johnson can take notice from on how to improve in this particular area.
