2021 NFL Draft Scouting Report: DL Malik Herring

Malik Herring demonstrates a sufficient level of athleticism with regard to his agility and balance on the edge. In the run game, he plays hard and gives very good effort. He uses his good quickness to get into gaps and can disrupt plays in the backfield. In the passing game, he has some quickness and wiggle on the edge. He does a good job of using his hands in passing situations and has had some production in these instances. He lacks ideal stature for the edge position and gets pushed around inside, so he's a bit of a tweener. As a result, he doesn't have true schematic versatility and is ideally suited to play as a 4-3 end.

Ideal Role: Backup edge and subpackage rusher.

Scheme Fit: Penetrating, attacking defense.
