Cian Slone Scouting Report
Cian Slone has the athleticism, high motor, and violent temperament to develop into a productive edge defender in the NFL.
Draft Grade: Round 4 - Developmental Traits
Strengths:
Quick First Step: On passing downs, Slone shows a good first step, giving him an advantage to get to the quarterback, generate pressure, or potentially record a sack.
High Motor: Slone is a high-effort, high-motor player. He tracks plays to the backside and pursues ball carriers 20-plus yards downfield. He will fight through the whistle to reach the ball carrier and make a play.
Physical/Violent Temperament: Slone plays with a physical, aggressive nature, seeking high-contact collisions. He looks to overwhelm offensive players with his physicality, especially in the run game. Slone plays with a controlled recklessness that makes him an asset for defenses that prioritize physical play.
Concerns:
Lack of Sack Production: Slone finished the 2025 season with 1.5 sacks. This low production appears to reflect a need for a more developed pass-rush plan and stronger instincts to consistently reach the quarterback. Slone needs refinement as a pass rusher.
Pass-Rush Plan: On passing downs, Slone’s pass-rush plan appears limited. He often attempts to run around offensive linemen or collide with them, relying on power to overwhelm. Slone needs to develop an understanding of angles and hand counters to win more consistently as a pass rusher.
