Arkansas wide receiver Andrew Armstrong is being underrated throughout the 2025 NFL Draft process. Armstrong led the SEC in receptions (78), receiving yards (1,140), and yards per game (103.6) this past season. The 6-foot-3, 202-pound “X” receiver continued checking boxes at the NFL Combine by running a 4.51 40, an excellent time for his size.
Armstrong recently spoke exclusively with The Draft Network. Armstrong discussed his historic 2024 season at Arkansas, his favorite routes to run, impressing scouts at the NFL Combine, and more.
JM: You exploded this past season, your second at Arkansas after transferring from East Texas A&M. You led the SEC in receptions (78), receiving yards (1,140), and yards per game (103.6). I mean, wow. What changed for you?
Andrew Armstrong: I feel like I changed as a person. I wanted to go out there and show everybody my passion for the game. My passion helped me go out there and do what I had to do. I wasn’t worried about the outside noise. I went out there and stayed focused.
I’ve been working hard ever since I was a little kid. It started paying off.
JM: Do you feel like you're receiving enough respect as a prospect throughout this pre-draft process? Leading the SEC in those categories is no joke.
Andrew Armstrong: Everybody is entitled to their own opinions. As long as I have respect for myself, I can’t control what other people think of me. Everybody has their own views on every prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Having what I have going on in my life, I’m just focused on the task at hand. I just want to help the team win. I probably deserve more notoriety than I’m getting for the things I did at Arkansas, but I understand there are a lot of factors that go into that.
JM: You also have great size for the position at 6-foot-3 and 202 pounds. How do you use that size and length to your advantage?
Andrew Armstrong: I love going up to get the ball, to catch it at its apex. I try to catch the football at its earliest window. I can use my size to box out defenders. I can fight off contact throughout a route.
I love using my body in the best ways I can. It’s also a huge asset as a blocker on the perimeter.
JM: You also had a great showcase at the NFL Combine. You had a 37.5-inch vertical and a 10-foot-4 broad jump. You ran a stellar 4.51. Did you get great feedback from NFL teams?
Andrew Armstrong: I definitely got great feedback. A lot of teams told me I put forth a great performance at the NFL Combine. A lot of people thought I was going to run 4.6 or something like that. I went out there and ran a 4.51.
At my Pro Day, I ran a 4.47 and 4.38. A couple of scouts had me in the 4.3s on my second run. The scouts loved that I went out there and answered questions about long speed. I put on a show for them.
JM: It really was an excellent showcase for you. Does Andrew Armstrong have a favorite route to run?
Andrew Armstrong: It would probably have to be a dig route or a comeback. I can get savvy with those routes. I always make everything look like a go route. When I’m running that comeback, I make it look like I’m pushing hard. I drop it down at the end of my break.
I love the comeback route the most. The dig route is similar. You can run a dig in many different ways. If you’re in man coverage, you can keep running the dig route across the field. If you’re in zone coverage, you can find a window to sit it down.
I do a great job running those comeback and dig routes. Those are my two favorites.
JM: It’s fun to watch you run those routes on tape. Have you completed any team meetings recently, or do you have any coming up?
Andrew Armstrong: We’re still scheduling workouts and visits, figuring out our calendar. I’ve been meeting with teams virtually on Zoom. I met with the Falcons, Raiders, and Titans. I briefly met with the Browns, Bears, and Bills at Pro Day after my workout.
JM: There’s a lot of interest in you and it’s easy to see why. We've appreciated your time. What kinda impact is Andrew Armstrong going to make at the next level?
Andrew Armstrong: I want to make an impact that makes everyone rethink how they approached me at this time. How did we miss on Andrew Armstrong? That’s the type of impact I wanna have.
I want to put a smile on everybody’s face at the next level. I’m going to be a great person on and off the field. I’m embracing everything about this process. I always want to be the best person I can be. I want to make my mark on the NFL.
