Film Analysis:

Davison Igbinosun transferred to Ohio State after his freshman season at Ole Miss, starting 10 games with 21 solo tackles, 37 combined tackles, and five passes defensed. He stepped in immediately and started all 13 games for the Buckeyes during his sophomore season. He was third on the team in total and solo tackles with 59 and 39, respectively. He duplicated his five pass breakups from 2022 and added two fumble recoveries to his resume. Igbinosun earned the staff's trust early, leading all Ohio State defensive players with 781 snaps. He looks to continue that trend for his junior season and add more ball production.

He’s a natural Cover 3 corner player who plays well in press-man and uses a smooth backpedal to stay close to the receiver and near the line of scrimmage. He possesses NFL size, listed at 6-foot-2 and nearly 200 pounds, with long strides and long arms to play on the boundary. Hand timing in press allows quick access to the receiver's chest to keep in the hip pocket when he needs to turn upfield and run.

Igbinosun has a high football IQ, sees route combinations unfold quickly, and is assignment sound when in zone, often taking away receiver coming into his zone from elsewhere on the field. He quickly identifies where the ball is going and has the click and close acceleration to get there. He’s a calm defender who never panics when the ball is in the air or when stacked by a receiver.

He’s a willing participant against the run who flashes the ability to stack receivers and shed them to make the tackle. His physical nature is beneficial against bigger receivers and he’s not afraid to deliver hits to running backs.

Igbinosun looks uncomfortable at the top of routes in off-man coverage and is more high-cut, which slows him down in his vertical transitions downfield. He prefers to break hard on initial route breaks from receivers and will be deceived by double moves. Being a more physical corner through the route, he tends to grab the receiver, which will lead to some penalties. As a tackler, he’s willing but too often goes for the legs, which, at the next level, will result in more missed tackles. Igbinosun will be looking to record his first collegiate interception in his junior year.

Overall, Igbinosun is a comfortable cover-three/press-man boundary corner with natural instincts for the position. Going forward, he must focus on off-man coverage comfort and up-field transitions to be in a better position for interceptions, and the ball production will follow.
