Film Analysis:

Benjamin Yurosek will be a redshirt senior in 2024. Yurosek transferred to Georgia from Stanford where his career was mixed with productive seasons in 2021 and 2022 and seasons where he was utilized in a minimal role (2023) due to a fluctuation in the quarterback talent at Stanford. In his time at Stanford, Yurosek was able to show off an attractive skill set for NFL teams who are looking for a flex TE option who is alignment versatile and can be a middle-of-the-field presence.

Yurosek can align everywhere from being an outside receiver to the slot to H-back to being an in-line tight end. The various alignments allow for the coach to find creative ways to get the football into Yurosek’s hands to make plays. Of all the alignments, Yurosek’s most productive position is when he is aligned in the slot. From the slot, Yurosek benefits from having space and can tempo his routes out to set up defenders, beat leverage, and win the route. Yurosek is a savvy route-runner who, at the top of the route, can use head fakes and properly stem defensive backs to find creative ways to get open without having elite athletic traits.

Yurosek thrives in high-traffic areas and can make difficult catches. Yurosek can play above the rim and go up and over defenders to make a catch. He has made one-handed catches and can contort his body in difficult positions to bring in the pass. When placed in run-after-the-catch situations, Yurosek profiles as a smooth, fluid mover and can pick up yardage by making a defender miss. Yurosek in the open field can open his stride and pick up significant yardage. Yurosek overall is a high-IQ player.

There are two main concerns for Yurosek as a draft prospect. First is his speed to win vertically. Yurosek is inconsistent at separating using speed, which can be an issue on vertical routes running up the seam. In the NFL where there are more talented cover safeties with higher athletic profiles, this can be an adjustment for Yurosek to have to find different ways to win or coordinators having to find other players to win on those vertical seam routes. The second concern for Yurosek is his ability to be a consistently effective in-line blocker. As of now, Yurosek does a good job of making initial contact but appears to lack the overall strength to sustain and get movement along the line of scrimmage in the run game, Yurosek is more effective working a double team block with an offensive lineman where he has help.

Overall, Yurosek is a tight end prospect who can be a reliable middle-of-the-field target for an NFL offense.
