Film Analysis:
Jacob Parrish is an inside/out versatile defender with the fundamental traits at the corner position to compete for starting snaps in due time.
In man, Parrish is a patient yet assertive defender, effectively disrupting receivers' routes at the line of scrimmage. Quick footwork and balance allow him to stay in phase with most opponents, and his level of physicality is notable at his size. Parrish is not afraid to mix it up with larger pass-catchers. Good speed and footwork to match players downfield, and has an innate ability to get his hands in passing lanes or through the arms of the receiver despite his lack of length. Has easy slide and glide footwork to gain ground and stay on top of pass-catchers and does well to get his head around downfield when engaged (INT vs Oklahoma State).
In zone, Parrish plays with good eyes in processing route combinations. Natural athlete in space with good anticipation when jumping throwing lanes. His spatial awareness enables him to bait quarterbacks and Parrish can cover ground quickly when considering his acceleration, pursuit angles, and anticipation ability.
As a run defender in the fringe areas, Parrish is a willing and effective run supporter that approaches contact with good technique. Will also provide special teams value due to his combination of straight-line speed and competitive fire. Despite his size limitations, he competes his tail off with excellent physicality against the run and is adept at slipping past would-be blockers due to his balance and natural low center of gravity.
Concerns remain about his inconsistent footwork and play strength at the top of routes, along with his size/length that he unfortunately cannot change. However, the former can be fine tuned.
Overall, Parrish projects as a scheme-diverse talent with the potential to be an impact NFL starter. While his stature may project him to the inside, his ability in man, elite competitiveness, and transitional ability make him a viable option within a secondary.
