Louisville center Bryan Hudson is among the most athletic interior offensive line prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft. Hudson posted eye-popping numbers at his Pro Day by leaping a 9-foot-5 broad. He also ran a 4.5 shuttle and 7.56 3-cone.
Hudson recently spoke exclusively with The Draft Network. Hudson discussed the attention he's received from NFL teams since his Pro Day, playing in multiple offensive systems at Louisville, his favorite plays to run in the playbook, which teams are showing interest in his services, and so much more.
JM: You put forth an outstanding performance at Louisville's Pro Day. Your agility times were especially impressive—a 7.56 3-cone and 4.5 shuttle. You also had a 9-foot-5 broad jump. Were you satisfied with the performance?
Bryan Hudson: I was very excited about the performance. I went out and executed at a high level. I was fairly happy about the final numbers. Those times weren’t my PR’s [personal records] from training, but they were still very solid times.
Sometimes that’s just the circumstance and flow of Pro Day. All in all, I was pretty happy with the times. It was a good day overall.
JM: Have you noticed an uptick in attention you're receiving from NFL teams since then?
Bryan Hudson: Yeah, I definitely am. Several teams have been in contact with me. I think the attention is starting to pick up. I received a lot of positive feedback at Pro Day. Several teams approached me at the conclusion to support me. I had some good conversations. There’s been some really good signs.
JM: Who are some of the teams you chatted with or met with?
Bryan Hudson: I’ve been in contact with the Chargers, Dolphins, and Jaguars. Those three teams have shown the most interest throughout the process in my opinion. I’ve also been in contact with a few others like the Texans, Ravens, Bills, and Vikings.
JM: There’s a lot of interest in you and it’s easy to see why. Can you see yourself playing in a Zone-based blocking scheme? Your athleticism seems to be tailor-made for that system.
Bryan Hudson: Yeah, it definitely is. We ran a zone-blocking system throughout my first two seasons at Louisville in 2021 and 2022. I really enjoyed it. I have a lot of experience with that system.
This past season, we were really able to broaden my horizons as I adapted to a new system. We ran more of a pro-style offense in 2023 under coach Jeff Brohm. He implemented a new scheme. I feel like I played really well in coach Brohm’s system.
I proved I could do a lot more than just inside and outside zone. I feel like that helped me a lot. I think I’d be a fit for both styles of offense.
JM: What was your favorite play to run in the playbook and why?
Bryan Hudson: That’s a really good question. A few different plays come to mind. My favorite play was something we ran quite a bit of this year. I loved those “DUO” runs. I think most offensive linemen like a good duo run (laughs).
I love run blocking. It’s a gap-sound play that’s obviously very downhill. The entire goal is to stick on double teams and be able to churn out three to five yards at a time. That was a fun, consistent play in our playbook. It resulted in a lot of positive yards for us.
I also like everything in the gap scheme. Power, one-back power, things of that nature. We ran that quite a bit this season as well. We had a lot of success with the gap scheme this season. That’s another play that’s very gap sound. It creates a lot of good leverage for the offense to hit whatever the defense gives us. It works against most blitzes and pressure packages.
Those are two of my favorite plays.
JM: I loved that breakdown. We've appreciated your time today. Why should a team use one of their draft picks on Bryan Hudson?
Bryan Hudson: I’m a disciplined offensive lineman that brings a lot of value to the table. I have a lot of versatility. I played all three interior positions in college. I actually came in as a tackle. My athleticism and length allow me to fill in at the tackle spot if needed.
I feel like I can play all five positions as necessary. I have terrific football I.Q. and overall knowledge of the game. It’s at a high level now, but it will continue growing once I get to the NFL.
I can hang my hat on that. I’m going to step into a locker room and onto an NFL field as a smart football player. I’m a quick learner that succeeds at a fast pace. I’m expecting to make a smooth transition.
I love being a leader in the locker room. I’m a very loyal teammate that cares about his teammates off the field as well. I’m going to play with a lot of pride for whichever organization drafts me.
I can come in and be a consistently valuable asset to the offense. I’m going to add a lot of value. I want us to be the best offense in the league. The goal is to score points. That’s what I bring to the table.
