Film Analysis:

Braiden McGregor is a quick-handed puncher who can clear an offensive lineman quickly with well-place strikes. He has functional arm length/wingspan to lock out and uses the long arm technique to wor his way into the backfield. He has an adequate dip/rip combination to win the edge and corner to the quarterback. McGregor does a good job working the inside track and even splitting the hands of the OT/OG. He appears to rush the best from wide/steep angles. This gives him a two-way go and forces the OT to pull further away from their inside help, putting them on an island.

Against the run, McGregor handles outside runs well with his lateral movement. He locks out his arms and keeps his feet moving to stay in range to make a play on the ball carrier. He uses quickness to slip and dip around blocks to make a play on the football.

McGregor’s functional strength leaves a lot to be desired. His ability to hold up consistently at the point of attack is adequate at best. He does not shed blocks once the offensive lineman’s hands are latched with control. McGregor’s lower body and strength are a concern. Would like to see him display consistent anchoring instead of being moved off the ball and line of scrimmage. He displays hip tightness when attempting to work tight corners as a pass rusher to close on the quarterback. McGregor ends up working too far upfield when he wins the initial pass set, but provides the chance for the OT to recover and wash him upfield.

McGregor projects as a rotational edge rusher and special teamer. The combination of quickness, a hot motor, and hand usage makes him an ideal depth rusher.
