Film Analysis:

Xavier Worthy is an explosive down-the-field threat who has the speed to consistently run past defenders. He uses that speed to set up other elements of his game. Worthy is versatile in alignment, which allows offensive coordinators to utilize him in multiple ways and allows him to be put in situations to take advantage of matchups and coverage. Worthy’s speed means he can take screens or end-arounds and convert them into big-play opportunities while also beating off coverage when he is bracketed down the field.

While Worthy’s speed is the most dominant part of his game, other elements are impressive too. Worthy can align as both an outside receiver and also in the slot. From both alignments, Worthy has shown to be a plus-level route-runner. He thrives at deep routes like post-corners, circle routes, and pivot routes with the ability to sell defensive backs in one direction and being able to break and create separation the other way. Worthy has shown to be able to consistently win in this manner. Worthy also uses his speed to sell defensive backs on vertical routes, forcing them to bail because of his speed and being able to run curls and comebacks off of that.

The biggest concern about his game is his usage. Worthy has a slight frame, which may prevent him from being a receiver that is utilized across the middle of the field in high-traffic areas due to the potential for injury. His frame also may be an issue in being able to fight defenders off quick-game routes such as slants—they may be able to fight through his body to get to the football. Worthy also has untimely concentration drops where it appears that he is focused on running after the catch before making sure he secures the pass

Overall, Worthy has game-changing speed. Although there may be a limitation to the roles he can play for his offense, he has more than enough physical tools and the skill set to be an impact player in the NFL.
