Film Analysis:

Marvin Harrison Jr.’s elite wide receiver ability was born into his DNA from his Hall of Fame father. Harrison Jr. brings a savvy veteran skill set and approach to an offense. He is a nuanced route-runner from multiple alignments. Harrison Jr. has a controlled pace and tempo to his routes that do not tip off DBs on where he is trying to go. He attacks leverage extremely well to clear the runway needed to get into his route quickly. His footwork is quick and decisive to force DBs to open their gate (hips) before they desire to. He stems routes well to hold an off-coverage defender in place as he explodes out of the breakpoint.

Harrison Jr. has a great and prototypical NFL X-receiver physical build. He uses his frame to out-position DBs in the red zone and on short-yardage routes. He is one of the best and most reliable jump-ball receivers in college football. He attacks the ball at its highest point with a level of confidence rarely seen. His body control and leaping ability make it a difficult cover on the back shoulder and fade concepts. He has hands like vice grips. He rarely drops passes. He has impressive play strength to fight through contact at the catch point and after the catch.

Harrison Jr.’s open-field speed is strong enough to pull away from closing defenders downfield. He is a three-level offensive threat. He can win with a variety of routes and occupy anywhere on the field inside the defense’s coverage.

His release package is still a work in progress. There is room for Harrison Jr. to continue expanding it. He does not have an elite first-step explosiveness at the line of scrimmage. High-caliber athletic DBs will be able to stay in phase vertical early in the reps. Being a bigger receiver can limit his transitional quickness at times.

NFL Projection: Harrison Jr. is an elite wide receiver with a full set of tools to be a day-one WR1 in the NFL. He is what teams look for in a high-volume target to lead their passing offense. He will be his quarterback’s best friend early in his career. He has been compared to A.J. Green. I see the potential for him to become a bigger Davante Adams—an elite top-five wide receiver during the peak of his career!

Prospect Projection: Day 1 – Rare, All-Pro
