Film Analysis:
Gabe Hall has had a unique trajectory in his career. He was very productive early in his career and then enjoyed a breakout season as a redshirt junior, firmly putting himself on NFL teams' radars. He then came back as a redshirt senior but lost playing time, was used as a rotational player, and struggled to make an impact on the game.
Hall has very good length and is a versatile player. He aligns as a 4i and as a 5-tech in Baylor’s defense and can also play 3-tech. Hall displays very good hand use and good ability to win the inside of offensive linemen's shoulder pads. He utilizes his length very well to keep his body clear and is quick to locate the ball-carrier and shed in the run game. His long arms allow him to grab ball-carriers from a distance. He plays with a good motor and chases the ball from the backside.
With that said, I don’t see enough from a physical tool standpoint to get excited about Hall’s NFL prospects. He lacks explosiveness off the ball and is essentially a one-dimensional player who offers little to nothing in the passing game. He lacks rush moves, doesn’t showcase a quick first step, and is just an average bull rusher. Furthermore, he doesn’t have a firm anchor when faced with double teams in the run game. NFL teams might value him because of his length and motor, but he would be lucky to hear his name called late on day three.
