Film Analysis:

Kiran Amegadjie is a physically gifted and toolsy OT prospect. He is an outstanding athlete who fires off the ball with explosiveness. Amegadjie is a physical and dominant-tempered run blocker. He has strong hands to latch/grip before torquing and turning his opponents to clear a path for the ball carrier. When engaged, he runs his feet to move his opponent off the ball. He’s scheme-versatile and experienced as a down/gap power and zone concept. Amegadjie is a good double-team run blocker and uses the gallop technique to help against interior defensive linemen before quickly climbing to the second level of the defense.

In pass protection, Amegadjie has multiple pass sets at his disposal based on the defender’s alignment. He can short, jump, and/or vertical set at any given time to keep his quarterback clean. His arm length (36 ¾”) is elite. Once his punches land and he locks his arms out, defenders struggle to break free or counter.

Amegadjie has reactive athleticism. If he is beaten early in the rep, he can flip his hips and wash the rusher around the quarterback. It is difficult to bull rush and power through Amegadjie due to his outstanding raw strength and ability to drop his hips to anchor. He showcases good knowledge of defensive line games with patience to pass off those twists and stunts. He possesses the lateral foot quickness and agility to mirror/match rushers. Amegadjie is best described as a power punch with the strength to generate force and knock back his opponent once it lands.

Amegadjie has the temperament NFL coaches desire but he will require some coaching on controlling his aggression. His over-aggressiveness leads to missed blocks in the run game when he is uncovered and climbing to the second level. He has a slight tendency to duck/lead with his head in run-blocking exchanges. The level of competition in the Ivy League does not match that of Power 5 or Group of 5 programs/conferences. Amegadjie’s punch and hand technique lacks polish. He can heavily rely upon two-handed punches from a low-hand carriage, leading to his hands being knocked down easily clearing the outside arc for pass rushers to enter the backfield.

Amegadjie has the physical and athletic tools to develop into a multi-year starting NFL left tackle. He is a candidate to draft and stash for part of his entire rookie season. The long-term potential is high for Amegadjie.
