PROSPECT SUMMARY - BRENDEN JAIMES
Brenden Jaimes played left tackle at Nebraska and displayed adequate athleticism with regard to his quickness and body control. In the run game, he is strong and stout at the point of attack. He does a good job of getting his feet in the neutral zone and getting vertical movement. He also shows adequate athleticism in his pass set. He has enough agility to suffice on the edge at the collegiate level. As a result, I believe he could maximize his potential at guard or even suffice at right tackle in the NFL.
Ideal Role: Backup multi-positional lineman.
Scheme Fit: Power running scheme.
FILM EVALUATION
Written by Drae Harris
Games watched: NIU (2019), Colorado (2019), Ohio State (2020)
Best Game Studied: NIU (2019)
Worst Game Studied: Ohio State (2020)
Balance: He plays with good balance. He is rarely on the ground and does a good job of keeping his feet in tandem in his set.
Pass Set: His pass set overall is adequate. He is not an elite athlete, but he is a solid technician. He is better suited to play guard.
Competitive Toughness: He plays with good competitive toughness. This is displayed as an in-line blocker in the run game. He also tries to finish defenders.
Lateral Mobility: Again, mobility is not his best attribute. He is sufficient at redirecting inside at the collegiate level. He will have significant issues with athletic defenders if playing on the edge in the NFL.
Length: He has the length required to play the position. He has prototypical NFL size and also good arm length.
Football IQ: He does a good job of recognizing stunts off the edge. He is rarely fooled by twists and games inside. He just isn’t as reactive as he could be, due to his movement skills.
Hands: He does have good power and explosion in his hands. He also shows the latch strength necessary for the position. He just needs to keep his hands inside the frame more consistently.
Anchor: He has excellent strength and competitiveness, which helps him anchor. He is extremely hard to bull rush. He does a good job of keeping the width of the pocket.
Power at P.O.A.: Again, he has good power at the point of attack. This is also evidenced in the run game. He comes off the ball hard and often gets vertical movement.
Versatility: I believe his best position is as a guard who can get you out of a game at right tackle. As a result, his versatility is limited.
