NAME: Darrell Henderson

CLASS: Junior

HT: 5-9

WT: 200 lbs

D.O.B.: Not Available

PROS: Big play extraordinaire, Henderson returns for 2018 season after averaging nearly 9.0 yards per carry on 120 carries in 2017. Henderson is compact to the ground, offering him impressive leverage to play with power and dictate forward push at first contact. Tackling difficulty is amplified by an active free arm, knows how to extend and create space to prevent clean wrap-up attempts in space. Looks to bounce from the second level to the boundary and often has success, can navigate off of contact and feel open spaces to escape and maximize yardage gains. Has some notable burst in second gear, has broken angles of linebackers and defensive backs alike. Capable receiving threat out of the backfield, showing good hands to catch away from the body (44 catches last 2 seasons).

CONS: Coming from a spread system, vision pressing the line of scrimmage is something Henderson hasn’t had to illustrate with high frequency. Flashes are present but system and transition to speed of NFL flow will be an obvious concern when the time comes. Does not necessarily have an elite physical trait: is tough, but not a power back. Has some burst, but doesn’t have top shelf speed. Durability is another unproven quality, even without extensive injury history. Has not been asked to carry the load and take a high volume of contact. Had 154 touches from scrimmage in 12 games in 2017 to set career high in average touches per game.
