NAME: Hjalte Froholdt
POSITION: Interior Offensive Line
JERSEY: No. 51
RECRUITMENT RATING: 4-star
WT: 311 lbs
PROS: Impressive athlete who moves well in space. Gets out on the perimeter and finds and latches onto targets. Excellent body control. Gets to the second level and seals off linebackers. Diverse blocking scheme gives him well-rounded experience in variety of systems.
Moves well in pass protection. Doesn’t get overextended, punches from a flat-backed position and typically lands his hands well. Excels from the neck up, knows and executes assignments and keeps active eyes in pass protection to look for work.
CONS: Just not overly physical at all. Doesn’t look to finish and very content with stalemates. Rarely creates movement at the point of attack. Lacks the power and tenacity to really overwhelm opponents at the point of attack. Slow and late with his hands, allowing defenders to get into his frame and dictate terms. Is there a level of nasty to his game that we haven’t seen?
Although he is a good puller, he doesn’t arrive with a vengeance to kick out defenders or open a hole at the second level. Rashaan Evans stole his soul with a good box technique. As a whole, doesn’t always seem prepared for the physicality of certain engagements. Spends too much time on the ground and can be slow to react to counter moves.
Mental processing is improved (was terrible in 2016), but reaction timing to twists is slow. Needs more urgency. Nothing on his punch, even when it’s well-placed. Leans into contact in the run game, rather than driving through. Length could be a concern.
