PROS: Generally accurate with good placement to the shallow portions of the field. Tough kid who will put the shoulder down as a runner rather than slide. Slippery enough in the pocket to escape once in awhile. Rhythm passer with good upper-body mechanics. Excellent ball handler, fakes and play actions are well sold.

CONS: Average overall arm. The further downfield he goes, the worse the accuracy. Deep ball down the sideline is abysmal. Throwing motion is a little long and deliberate. Doesn’t look like he has great control over the ball when it come out of his hand, especially on downfield throws. Could be a hand size concern.

Stares down his receivers for a beat or two on vertical throws, very little eye manipulation or nuance to his quarterbacking. Don’t think he has the arm to test tight windows. Falls off his base and will lose velocity on throws. Needs to step up into the pocket/pressure sometimes to make a play. Things don’t get better when he’s throwing on the run. Poise under pressure is poor. If asked to move through multiple progressions, gets panicked easily.

Relied on a lot more for his legs than his arm, and he’s not even that great of an athlete. If the offense comes down to Mississippi State throwing the ball, they’re probably toast. 21 turnovers in two years with a passing attack this conservative is an eye-popping number. Puts too many throws in harm’s way. Total lack of awareness for where the safeties are on a given snap.
