NAME: Ben Bredeson

CONFERENCE: Big10

POSITION: Offensive Guard

CLASS: Junior

JERSEY: No. 74

RECRUITMENT RATING: 4-star

HT: 6-5

WT: 308 lbs

D.O.B.: 2/20/1998

PROS: Heavy hitting Left Guard prospect whose frame packs a lot of pop thanks to mobile hips to unlock and coil into defenders up front. Has a long wingspan, possessing a notable area of influence along the line of scrimmage to prevent free running defenders from getting pressure. Effective thanks to lateral mobility and length in passing off stunting defenders to exchanging men up front. A former offensive tackle recruit, Bredeson offers clean pass sets and is fairly consistent in holding his own in one on one assignments in pass protection. Transitions out of double teams effectively, will disengage or work hip to hip with teammate to take over doubled defender and allow teammate to release.

CONS: Pad level consistency is an issue, is a big body to be playing inside and as a result Bredeson can get caught with his shoulders too high. Will get caught with weight leaning forward too far onto the toes, would like to see more awareness to stay well balanced on feet. Does not always show the best anticipation when releasing onto the second level, can be too linear in angles climbing for a second level block and therefore will arrive at his platform too late. Needs to focus predominantly on recovery anchor, if collapsed early offers little chance to settle back into pass set.
