PROS: Nate Stanley played the game of his life against Ohio State in 2017 in a rout at home. Big bodied passer who has the frame to stand tall in the pocket. Is effective in executing play action reps to show the ball to the defense, has comfort turning back to the defense and then resetting to look down the field. Has nice zip on the ball when able to rock into throws and transfer weight, capable of squeezing the ball into some risky/tight windows. Has modest mobility and has shown promise in roll outs and moving pockets to reset his launch point in an effort to negate potent pass rush. First season as a starter brought some growing pains but ceiling is present to become a much better passer with a year under his belt in 2017. Has had a lot of success targeting routes working between the numbers, does well to get touch on the ball in order to work throws over linebackers.

CONS: Will need to find more easy completions in 2018 to ease concerns about low completion percentage, although upon film review Stanley did not appear to be grossly inaccurate, nor a bad decision maker. Accuracy does wane if off his platform and has a poor habit of missing high when throwing into the sideline, whether on the move or trying to hit quick throws on quick set passes. Awareness of rushers in the pocket is questionable, allowed defenders to collapse space around him intermittently and restrict release. Has not shown the same level of mastery in longer developing routes as compared to a lot of quick concepts and timing route combinations inside of 10 yards to the line of scrimmage.
