NAME: Juwan Johnson

SCHOOL: Penn State

CONFERENCE: Big10

POSITION: Wide receiver

CLASS: Senior

JERSEY: No. 84

RECRUITMENT RATING: 4-star

HT: 6-4

WT: 229

D.O.B.: 9/13/1996

PROS: Juwan Johnson is a big, long body on the boundary. Showcases a large catch radius and has strong ability to pluck at the nose of the ball on targets. Capable of using body to shield the ball in possession targets in high traffic. Has a fairly dynamic burst of speed on shallow breaks and deeper targets, will get separation in open space effectively. Athletic potential to develop into a dynamic all around threat. Has the potential to become a prominent red zone threat with the absence of Gesicki and Barkley in the PSU offense this coming year. Strong hands when contested to finish reception opportunities.

CONS:Is too slow getting off the line of scrimmage, lethargic feet against press coverage. Does not carry a lot of speed through the top of hard breaks. Has flinched in crossing routes, where as he is much more confident at the catch point along the boundary. Does not run an especially diverse route tree and ability to sell false breaks is still a work in progress (Spot, slant, drag, comeback and post routes were most common). Is more upside than production to this point, with only 1 TD last season. Has opportunity to check a lot of boxes in a new offense as one of only a handful of returning skill players on the depth chart.
