PROS: D’Cota Dixon brings a “face in the fan” energy to the defense, steps up into gaps without hesitation as a box defender and is fast to break on the ball in run support. Has a knack for being around deflected balls and has made head up plays to convert several turnover opportunities throughout course of career. Appears to have requisite athletic ability to play on the NFL level. Team leader defensively and works as a clear communicator on the back end to help make coverage calls. Most effective in man coverage when tasked with coming downhill from off the line of scrimmage and locking up running backs out of the backfield, can mirror laterally with quickness to bounce into the hip pocket.

CONS: Can get lost in the wash when trying to play into the box from the third level. Despite versatility in role usage, does not appear to have a clear-cut role in the starting 22: lacks strength and consistency as a tackler to warrant role as a regular box/strong safety, struggles with playing tight in man coverage against slot receivers and doesn’t have elite anticipation to play as a single high free safety. May end up being regulated to a depth player with special teams role at the next level without impressive jump in one key area in 2018.
