PROS: A devastating bruiser in the open field who loves to hit. Thinks multiple steps ahead when breaking through the first level into the second level and can set up leverage/angles to make it even more difficult to get a good hit on him. While breaking one tackle, starts thinking about breaking the next one. Has surprising breakaway ability given size, because of his effective anticipation and contact balance in the secondary. Reads blocking concepts well and almost always takes the first daylight to immediately prevent dallying/potential loss of yardage. Will bang through creases to fall forward. Can improvise in the face of penetration in the backfield with good instincts. Used frequently as a receiver and seems to have steady hands. Will bang around in pass protection, though ability to sustain is a bit of a question.

CONS: Athletic profile limits pro projection. Below average in terms of lateral agility; cannot change directions quickly. Big issues of decelerating show up on all boundary runs–hard to put a foot in the ground and g0–which makes Moss a between-the-tackles runner exclusively. Linear burst even from a straight shot isn’t inspiring. Unflinching dedication to the read can hurt him; never looks to create on his own. Path predictable to smart second-level defenders. Successful making Pac-12 defenders miss in space, but far less likely to see similar success in the pros.
